Field Day 2011

We enjoyed such great weather for our Field Day!  Activities included: Clean Out Your Backyard, Dancing, Water Relay, Sidewalk Chalk and Bubbles, Battleship, Scooter Races, Tail Game, BBQ lunch, and ice cream sundaes.  Thank you to the parents who volunteered for Field Day, and to the PTG for sponsoring the ice cream social!  And yes, if you look very closely at one of the chalk drawings, it says, "Mrs. Pelkey is the best teacher ever!" (No, I don't pay my students to say that!)

Moose Point State Park

On Friday, June 10, our class went to Moose Point State Park.  Thank you to all parents and grandparents who were able to help us on the trip!  Together, we explored tide pools, discovered Maine nature on hiking trails, played on the playground, and enjoyed a picnic lunch.  One group even used a parent's camera to make short videos in the woods!  A very creative, educational, and fun day was had by all!

Spring Concert 2011

Another fabulous performance by Miss Dickey and the K-5 students!  Thank you to those who were able to provide a costume, and to those who helped their student practice.  What a wonderful Disney time we all had!

Our Maine Bulletin Board

I asked students to bring in objects that represent Maine for display on our hallway bulletin board.  Hopefully many of you had a chance to check it out while you were here for our Spring Concert. We have a great variety of items on display, such as stuffed animals, books, sea glass, posters, and even a display about Verso Paper Mill, created by Chloe.  Thank you to all who brought items in for the bulletin board.  Your objects will be returned by the end of the school year.

My New Blog!

I have decided to create a blog so that families and friends can stay better connected to the classroom.  There are not many days left of this school year, but hopefully I will learn more about blogging and I will be able to share more with families next year.
